Attached to the U.S. 58th Fighter Group, the 201st Air Fighter Squadron (Escuadrón Aéro de Pelea 201) was composed of Mexicans who fought alongside the Allies during World War Two. Flying P-47 Thunderbolts, they saw combat in the Pacific theater. Nicknamed “Aztec Eagles”, they are the only members of the Mexican armed forces to have fought outside of Mexico.
