New printing technique: Digital Direct
Breaking news from the Spreadshirt Printing Lab: photos and images with lots of colors and gradients can now be printed on dark T-shirts! Digital Direct printing means that the traditional techniques of color printing will be become a relic of the past. Digital Direct (or lovingly known at Spreadshirt as ‘Didi’) is straightforward and stress-free:
Upload a good old-fashioned pixel-based design (e.g. .png, .gif, .jpg or .bmp) to your shop or directly into our Designer. Unlike our flex and flock print options – your design will NOT need to be proofed by our design team, so you can start designing, buying, or selling your products instantly!
And what exactly happens to my design with the ‘Didi’ print technique?
The designs are directly printed onto the t-shirt fabric (unlike our other techniques where they are printed onto a film and then ironed on) with a special type of ink-jet printer. The print comes out as a very thin and soft layer on the fabric. Very dark t-shirts are ‘primed’ with a layer of white before the design colors are printed, helping to create the high-contrast and quality you have come to expect!
