The Newsletter tool allows you to send newsletters to your customers and inform them about new products and designs in your shop. You can access the tool in your User Area under "Your Spreadshirt" > "Shops" > "Marketing" > "Newsletter". In the upper left corner you can choose the shop from which you would like to send the newsletter.

The "Shop Newsletter" Page

This is where you create your newsletter. You can find three areas on this page where you can change the settings. Simply click on “Edit” in the area which you would like to edit.

Newsletter Layout

This is where you design the appearance of your newsletter to match your Spreadshirt shop. These settings apply to both the automatic and manual versions of the newsletter. If you make no changes to the settings, a standard template will be used.

Header Graphic

The first step is to show the header graphic from your shop in the newsletter header. This makes it a lot easier for your customers to recognize your shop. If you decide not to show the header graphic, the newsletter will be sent without a graphic in the header.

Color Settings

To make the overall look of your shop and newsletter more consistent, you should match the colors of your newsletter with those of your shop. You can simply adopt the settings from “Colors & Fonts” and the structural elements of your newsletter (such as headings, frames, links etc.) will look the same as in your shop.

Shop-URL in the Newsletter

There is a link in the newsletter which will send the reader directly to your shop. Depending on if and how you have integrated your shop in your website, you can choose between the shop-URL and your own URL. The shop URL is the standard default Spreadshirt address of your shop. This link always leads to the standard template, as you have created it in your User Area.

Shop Partners often have their own webpage where they offer their products. They link to such a page by deep-linking the individual products. This page is usually integrated into a larger website and has its own URL. If this is the case, you should enter the site’s URL so that the customers actually arrive where you want them.

Please note: Use only URLs which lead directly to your shop site. Internet users may lose confidence in the site and most likely will never return if they are linked to a page which is not the one they were expecting.

The Automatic Newsletter

This newsletter is created automatically and sent once a month, always on the first Tuesday at about 2:00 P.M. CET. It contains up to 6 products which you have newly added to your shop since the last automatic newsletter was sent. This also applies when you have reactivated the automatic newsletter after a longer period of time. In this case, the newsletter would grab the 6 newest products which were added to the shop during this period.

Please note: The newsletter will always show the 6 newest products. All products which are older than these 6 and were added to the shop after the last automatic newsletter was sent will not be included. To avoid leaving these products unadvertised, you can simultaneously compose a manual newsletter and send it.

The automatic newsletter is useful if you have constantly uploaded new designs or added new products over a long period of time.

If the selected shop is a Designer Shop, you can also advertise your own designs. The reader would then land directly in your shop’s T-shirt Designer.

To see how the newsletter will appear, you can preview the newsletter or have a test e-mail sent to you.

The Manual Newsletter

This is where you can create a newsletter yourself. You can send a manual newsletter once a week.

This newsletter can be sent in addition to the automatic newsletter. This is especially useful during short-notice campaigns which are a response to current events.

Choose Products and Arrange in Newsletter

Click on “Edit”. A pop-up box will open (Important: your browser must allow pop-ups for this page). Now you can choose from a list of your products those which you want to appear in the newsletter. You can select the position where product should appear on the right of the pop-up menu.

For those with Designer Shops, you can also add your own designs for the newsletter. You can find a “Designs” tab at the top left to do this. It is possible to mix both designs and products in a newsletter.

Filters

A filter can be very helpful during a search when you have many products and designs. Click on “Show Filter”. You can filter through different product categories, ranging from generalized categories (i.e. Women’s) to single product lines (i.e. Men’s Hooded Sweatshirts). If you are looking for a specific Product-ID, you can enter this ID and search for this product.

If you are satisfied with your selection, click on “Save”. To see how the newsletter will appear, you can preview the newsletter or have a test e-mail sent to you.
Once you have a final version of the newsletter, click on “Send Manual Newsletter” and off it goes.

A Few More Tips for the Manual Newsletter:

Avoid Spam! If the recipients of your newsletter feel harassed, they will unsubscribe from the mailing and are initially lost.
Avoid advertising a product more than once. Exception: You have received many more customers since the last newsletter you sent (who haven’t received the old newsletters), or it has been a very long time since you last sent a newsletter at all.

Important: Your Shop Name

Your shop's name is used in the newsletters in the subject, the e-mail text itself and the salutation. If you haven't provided a shop name, your Shop-ID will be used (e.g. 123456789.spreadshirt.com). You can enter your shop's name on the page Your Spreadshirt > Shops > Settings > General.

The Newsletter Archive

The Newsletter Archive shows you an overview of all sent newsletters. You can access this in your User Area under "Your Spreadshirt" > "Shops" > "Marketing" > "Newsletter" > "Newsletter Archive". Choose from the top right which shop’s Newsletter Archive you would like to view.

You can view the date sent, how it was sent (automatic or manual) as well as the number of recipients.

You can also specify the time period of the sent newsletters which you would like to view.

Who receives the newsletter?

The newsletter will be sent to the e-mail address of every customer who has bought from your shop. If the chosen shop has yet to sell to any customers, you will not be able to send a newsletter.

For legal reasons Spreadshirt can only send newsletters to customers who have bought from us. If you have your own e-mail distribution list, you may forward this newsletter.

You can set up a separate newsletter for each of your shops.

Please note: Many people do not like newsletters. Therefore, we offer the customer the possibility to unsubscribe from them. There is a link in the footer of the newsletter which leads to a page where the customer can unsubscribe from individual shops in which they have made a purchase.
