A new domain for your shop.. but don't worry!

If you have a shop with Spreadshirt EU, then you have heard of the top level domain change.  This means that  the top level domain for the EU Spreadshirt shops will change based on country locale.  The change was a planned part of the previous SEO changes.

What does this change mean for US and Canada Spreadshirt shops?  These shops will not have a top level domain change, so your shops would remain as ShopName.spreadshirt.com.

Another change the top level domain switch brings is shortened URLs for the shop, so Index/index, etc will no longer be needed and some shortened deeplinking will also be in place.  This change will carry over to the North American links and shops, so a global structure is used for both Spreadshirt NA and Spreadshirt EU.  However, all current deeplinks you are using will continue to work and 301 redirect to the new version automatically.  Additionally, there are no plans to make the current link structure nonfunctional, so you would not have to change you current shop links, as the deeplink structure will continue to work.

Examples:

Current link: http://envirotees.spreadshirt.com/us/US/Shop/Index/Index/category/6494
Will redirect to: http://envirotees.spreadshirt.com/happy-tree-C6494

Current link: http://envirotees.spreadshirt.com/us/US/Shop/Index/Index/search/Angel
Will redirect to: http://envirotees.spreadshirt.com/Angel

Currently, QA is still testing the changes and redirects for both Spreadshirt EU and Spreadshirt US, so a definite date of release is not established, but we do look for the change to as early as Monday, October 5, 2009.
