Baruch Seal
The Baruch Seal is one of some 250 clay seals which were found in 1975 in an excavation southwest of Jerusalem. In ancient times these small seals were attached to documents and served as an official signature for an individual and to identify the sender. Our design is based on a clay seal with the following inscription: “Berekhyahu son of Neriyahu the scribe”. This is the seal of Baruch, son of Neriah who was the scribe to the prophet Jeremiah and is mentioned in Jeremiah 36,1-4. The suffix ‘yahu’ in ancient Hebrew is a form of God, the name Berekhyahu means ‘the blessed of God’.
