Now that Summer is officially over, Christmas is the next big thing to look forward to! Start preparing for the biggest sales potential of the year by giving your shop the attention it deserves. The tips below should help you take the right steps towards generating even more sales through Christmas and beyond!
How many friends do you have?
Every single one of your friends is a potential – and FREE – source of advertising for you. Just give it a try: these days just about everyone has a Facebook account. The simplest thing to do is integrate your Spreadshirt Shop directly into your Facebook fan page. Here’s an example of how sushi-shirts’ shop looks. Don’t worry – it’s much easier than you think! Here’s how to integrate your Spreadshirt Shop into Facebook.
As soon as your custom t-shirts have been integrated into your shop’s fan page, you just need to ask your friends to “like” your shop and recommend it to their friends. This way, loads of people find out about it really quickly, and whenever you’ve got cool products on offer, your shop is bound to have plenty of traffic. But be careful: before you start drumming up all that attention, make sure your shop is in good shape. You can find more about changing the shop layout in our new Spreadshirt Partner Shop video tutorials.
Ever thought about flyers?
Some of our shop partners use all sorts of channels to advertise their shop. Flyers or stickers are a great example of this. Our partner MOO offers a really easy way to create flyers, MiniCards and postcards online – and they are sent directly to your home! Distribute these amongst your friends, family and wherever your target market happens to be. And get this – until December 1st 2011, you can get a 15% discount on your order with MOO.
You need to make sure people are made aware of your shop!
It’s not enough to just put some great products in your shop once a year and then sit back and wait for the rest to take care of itself. Sure, it’s happened in the past … but very, very rarely. Imagine a shop in your town only ever changing its stock once a year … how often would you bother going there? Your customers want to be wooed! So show them new products regularly, promote what you’ve got to offer (for example on your Facebook page, or on other social networks and communities) and give them the feeling that you are catering to their every need!
Still not working?
If you’ve already taken that all to heart but still haven’t generated any sales, then there’s only one thing for it: you’ll have to re-think your target group and product range. DO you stand head-and-shoulders above the masses, or are your products pretty generic? A great idea is to create shirts for a target group you know pretty well yourself. Everyone’s got a hobby or special interests – why not try creating some shirts for that very group you belong to? After all, you know best where like-minded people hang out. Promote your shop there and listen carefully to what subjects make sense. You don’t always have to create new designs for everything (they can take some time to create), but simple text does the job too and is pretty popular! Any other tips you can add? We’d love to hear what you think and what has worked for you!

The customize feature is not (yet) included in the Facebook Shop – I’ll pass it along to the team as a feature wish 🙂
This is a great tool. However, I have designs that customers can customize with their own text. It seems that this feature is not included in the Facebook Shop.
