You can’t go anywhere these days without being bombarded by hash tags. Hashtag this, hashtag that– they’re EVERYWHERE. Yes, they have a purpose: hashtags are a way to categorize things across social media so that they’re easier to find later on or so that they fit into certain categories. For instance, if you go on Twitter right now and search “#Robishandsome”, you’ll find all sorts of pictures of me from all over the globe. 
Hashtags have also become a form of expression. You may hear someone say, “I just won a trip to Hawaii… hashtag WINNING!” It’s become very common.
Just today on Twitter… the hashtag #makeasongdepressing was trending BIG TIME. It’s hliarious. People were taking the titles of popular songs and making them as depressing as possible. Check it out here.
