There are a host of motivating slogans that you can print on a t-shirt: “Pain is Temporary, Pride is Forever”, “No Pain, No Gain” and “Sweat is Just Fat Crying”, to name a few. You can tell that “pain” is a theme here, and since nothing in life comes for free, we want to give you the extra incentive to walk through the shadow of the valley of pain, and finally master the most rewarding character-building experience of them all: exercise! Check out our blog and learn how to quiet the demons of complacency, and then turn into the healthy beast you’re meant to be.

There is one piece of good news: there’s no need to go running a marathon in order to make a t-shirt look better on you. You do, however, need to do more than just order a new tee. But with a bit of good will and sound habits, you can be sure that you will soon get to where you belong: a fitter place.

No Time is No Excuse

Every day is a new challenge, for your body as well. There’s always a flight of stairs next to the elevator, and you can always skip a means of transport to walk a couple of miles. The most important thing is to adopt good habits and to not keep lying to yourself. “I go to the gym once or twice a week” is what you hear a lot of people say. What they mean is, “I want to go to the gym once or twice a week, because I know that’s the bare minimum I should do.” The good news is, you can easily do some good for your health and fitness by doing a few little things every day, and it’ll save you the trouble that sore muscles would give you after a once-a-week workout in the gym where the guilty conscience takes over.

Find a Sports that Suits You

Have you ever tried volleyball? Or any other team sport? Being part of a group is extremely motivating and a lot of fun, so why not give it a go and join a club or “after work” league? Discipline is another factor that’s easier to get a hold of when you’re part of a team. It’s as simple as that: if you don’t make it to practice, you’ll be missed. And since you don’t want to leave the others in the lurch, you’ll find it easier to get your bum off the couch and get a move on.

Some people are not too fond of team sports though, and everyone who wants to do their bodies some good after a day of sitting in the office. Swimming is a great cure for sore shoulders, stiff necks and back problems of all sorts. Swimming will stimulate and relax all your back muscles in an efficient way, and it goes totally easy on the joints. Ain’t that perfect?

Mini Workout

Now here’s how you can get your fitness off to a flying start. Hit the ground running, and work that booty into shape!

1. While you brush your teeth, stand in an upright position, back to wall. Raise yourself on your tiptoes, and then slowly down again. Do this ten times and flex your buttocks muscles while you’re at it.
2. When you go to bed, slowly lift your shoulder blades and pull your knees up. Reverse the action and do it ten times. Works a treat for relaxing a sore back.
3. When you wake up, try pushing your spine down. Start with the collar bone and finish off with the neck. If that makes you go back to sleep, use the floor instead! 🙂
