Your Summer Festival Style Guide 2015

Festival Style Guide

Festival season is a wonderful time of year where you can escape from the day-to-day grind, unwind, relax, listen to good music, enjoy nature, and spend some quality time with your friends and other festival goers. There are no rules—particularly when it comes to attire. We’ve seen people in jeans, people in shorts, one very hairy man in a tutu, and our fair share of naked people. Gross. Anyways, here is Spreadshirt’s official list of Summer Festival Tips to help you get make the most of this year’s festivals:

Mix Tapes, Baby!

Sure there’s plenty to do at festivals: the dancing, the games, the singing, shopping the little craft tables, grilling, etc; but we all know why we’re here. The music! A great way to set the stage (no pun intended) for a great festival experience is with mix CDs (or tapes if you’re into that sort of thing). Put together a few mix CDs, playlists or tapes of the bands you’re going to see and blast them in the car or your headphones on the way. It’s a great way to psych yourself up for the adventure ahead.

Light and Layerable

The Women’s Flowy Tank by Bella is the ultimate festival option. Since it’s summertime, the light and flowy fabrics keep you cool and free, as opposed to their heavier, bulkier counterparts. Flowy tanks can be layered on top of each other, thrown on over a sports bra, or worn under a light zip when the night sets in. The best part is you can adorn them with summer or music designs to really set the scene.

The Unisex Tri-Blend T by American Apparel

A Spreadshirt favorite, the Unisex Tri-Blend T by American Apparel is the ultimate t-shirt. It’s soft, draping fabrics compliment the physique, and the heathered blend of cotton, polyester, and rayon is ultra fashionable. Choose from three stylish heathered colors (heather gray, heather black or heather blue) and dance, dance, dance the night away.

The Sleeve Roll

The men’s and women’s t-shirts are prime candidates for your festival bag. Their loose-fitting cut and wide neckline make this piece the ultimate option for dancing, hacky sack, or spinning around in circles (you know there’s one in every crowd). Roll the sleeves up to get a little color on those upper arms, because, as the saying goes, “Sun’s out, guns out!”

Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Sunscreen!

Use it. No if, ands, or buts about it. Skin cancer is real, and it’s serious. Use sunscreen early and often to avoid being burned. Let me tell you from experience, nothing ruins a fun time like a bad sunburn. Do you want to be in your tent sick and on fire while everyone else is dancing, singing, drinking, and having the time of their lives? We didn’t think so. WEAR YOUR SUNSCREEN!

Lids, Man

Hats are a great thing to pack for any festival experience. They’re great for keeping the sun out of your face, but they’re especially perfect as accessories to any summer outfit. Girls, a nice fedora, straw hat or snapback can really put your cute concert digs over the top. Guys, you pretty much live in baseball caps, so you already know the deal. Hats. Don’t be caught without one. P.S. they’re not half bad for pulling down over your eyes and taking a little catnap in the sun, either!

Nature Crowns

Being at festivals is being one with nature. Most of the bigger festivals are outdoors in the middle of nowhere. And let’s face it—it gets messy and dirty. Bring handy-wipes and hand sanitizer for a quick clean up. But that’s not the tip, here. You can find all sorts of wild flowers, field grasses and twigs to make yourself a nature crown! Embrace your inner hippie and go for it. We guarantee people will ask you where you bought it!
Have any tips for your fellow festival goers? What kind of things have you brought with you that you were ultra thankful for (see: toilet paper) and what kinds of things may not have been such a great idea? Help us out, here. We look forward to hearing from you.
