What kind of designs do people want to print on their Christmas gifts? We had a look at the biggest trending search terms between August and October to give you an idea of what’s trending these days. Get your Shop up to scratch, and get inspired by the top 10 search terms on both Spreadshirt’s Marketplace and on Google.
The Marketplace Top 10
These were the top 10 search terms* on the Spreadshirt Marketplace between August and October:

3) funny pregnancy

Next to some of the usual suspects, a few surprising design searches have made the list in the late summer/early autumn months. Cycling is a sport gaining more and more popularity lately, and this is reflected by its showing in the search term list. And there’s no question why ‘beards’ made the list, as they are en vogue in the hairiest of fashion these days. Designs about engineers, big sisters and horses complete our top 10 – and we shall hope this gives you inspiration about what to include in your Shop.
The Google Top 10
In the same period, Google search terms for designs were topped with the following words and phrases:
1) 40th birthday
2) 50th birthday
3) Best friends
4) Cool Christian
5) Cool Quotes
6) Couples
7) Crossfit
8) Funny Gym
9) Geek
10) Vintage
This Google list delivers a great insight into what kind of designs and gifts people look for. Milestone birthdays came in big this time around, and ‘best friends’ and ‘funny gym’ tell you what kind of gifts people look for. ‘Cool quotes’ never get old, and putting some ‘geek’ or ‘vintage’ designs on a T-shirt surely won’t do any harm either.
Up and coming Trends
We can of course not predict every trending term, but there are a few occasions coming up in the big run down to Christmas that will have folks looking for certain designs. It’s safe to say that not all of these events are as big as Christmas, but – for example – International TV day would make for a great occasion to run a social media campaign to promote funny TV designs in your shop (think TV series, Simpsons, Marvel heroes, etc.). The same applies to the other occasions we’ve listed below!
