Your Designs and Pantone’s Color of the Year: “Greenery”

The Pantone Color Institute is the world’s foremost authority in all things color.  Each year—and based on an extensive expertise of fashion, cosmetic and interior decorating trends—Pantone releases their Color of the Year.  The announcement is sought after the world over, as the color quickly ascends the rainbow to the “it” color, weaving its way into our homes, onto our clothing, and into the shades of our eye shadow.

So what is this year’s Color of the Year, you ask? Well wait no longer. Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2017 is… drum roll, please… Greenery!  This spring-like shade of green, reminiscent of Granny Smith apples or fresh-cut grass, will soon be popping up on every street in previous years from the Pantone Colors of the YearMarsala” (2015) and “Serenity and Rose Quartz” (2016).

What Can Greenery Do for Me?

Though Pantone’s Color of the Year typically frequents makeup counters, home décor establishments and high-fashion runways, that doesn’t mean you can’t put it to work for you! The obvious answer is incorporating it into your designs, as customers will certainly be looking to flaunt duds with the trendy tone.

Color Pairings

The design is step one.  Getting in onto a product that helps it really stand out is step two.  Thankfully, Pantone is gracious enough to not only share the wonders of the color world with us each year, but to also share the Color of the Year’s best color pairings.  Take a look at the designs below to get a good idea of which complementary colors  you should be considering when creating for your Shop.

We may not be strutting the runways in Milan or buying furniture to decorate the homes of the rich and famous, but no matter how you cut it, t-shirts are an ever-present piece of the fashion world.  There is no doubt that fashion-savvy customers will be scouring the internet for some Greenery items that they can add to their everyday gear. 1. I always enjoy reading the Spreadshirt blog. You guys / gals give excellent information about color, design ideas, best selling apparel, etc.

I really like this shade of green. I will definitely try to incorporate it into some of my designs.

    Thanks and Happy 2017!

  2. In the ’90s, Greenery emerged repeatedly as part of the Dotcom era (remember that apple green color of the iMac?) and has been recognized in the design world ever since. Today, however, Greenery is being used in business, fashion, and interior design more than ever.
