Your Shop’s Header Image – Size is Everything

The freedom of choice is a good thing, particularly when it comes to bringing your Shop’s graphics in tune with your creative aura. When choosing the size of your header image, though, there are a few aspects worth considering for creating confidence among your customers. Check out this short tutorial to help you find the perfect pixel (re)solution.

Here’s the problem: when you choose a header-image resolution with dimensions that are either too big or too small, you give your Shop an unprofessional look that may have an off-putting effect on your customers. A nicely aligned header image, by implication, evokes more trust and leads to easier check-out decisions.

Getting the size right

A few simple steps will have your header displayed nicely on desktop and mobile devices:

  • The size of the image file should not exceed 200kB in total (otherwise the page load time gets extended unnecessarily)
  • Have the image fit the dimensions of 1400px x 250px
  • Make sure that the header gives the customer a relevant idea of what your shop is about
  • Upload graphic “Header & Colours” > Upload header graphics

A final tip: we recommend adding your Shop’s logo to the header, and – preferably – feature model wearing a product with one of your designs.

  1. Hello
I’m new to spreadshirt, I’m having problems with the banner, I upload it and the image comes out blurry I’ve tried to make the image smaller but it doesn’t seem to be helping
    please fix the size allowed.

  2. My header is now gone, I tried to upload it again but it now says “Upload logo (recommended) – 380×68”. Why the change? I uploaded that size but it looks ridiculous.

  3. I tried all different pictures for my header but they said that it needs to be lower than 400kb. Then, I tried a picture and it turned out to be too small and it is only taking up te first half of the header area. There is no problem with the picture at, because spreashirt is constantly having bugs. Please respond.

      Lena
