How do your designs make it big on marketplaces beyond Spreadshirt? Two experts from the external marketplace team have all the answers.
What are external marketplaces?
Two members of the external marketplace team took some time to answer your burning questions. Today, you’ll meet Julia and Tim. Julia is responsible for Amazon France and Tim for Amazon and eBay Germany.
Hello Julia! Let’s jump right in with the most important question: On which external marketplaces do you offer Designers’ designs?
Julia: The question is quickly answered: In order to increase the reach of designs from the Spreadshirt community, we offer them on Amazon in Germany, France, the UK, the Netherlands and the USA, as well as on eBay in Germany and the USA.
How does it work?
So, now you know where we’re talking about when we say, “external marketplaces.”
But how do the designs from our community get to Amazon and eBay? And what criteria is used to select the designs that are ultimately offered on external marketplaces? Tim, can you tell us more about that?
Tim: Designs for external marketplaces are selected directly by our team. However, to make it into the selection, a design has to meet a few requirements. First, we look for designs that are already selling well on the Spreadshirt Marketplace. Designs can be successful if they appeal to specific target groups (e.g. fathers for Father’s Day), cover popular topics (e.g. hobbies, birthdays, funny sayings) and have an appealing layout. The description and keywords should match the design well, and the placement of the design on the product should be appropriately large and centered. Currently hot or seasonal themes can also be successful. In addition, we take strict care not to violate any copyrights. In our Amazon Brand Stores you can find designs that are selling well at the moment. It’s best to take a look and get inspired!
Do my designs qualify?
So, how do Designers actually know whether their design is currently being offered on Amazon or eBay?
Julia: Until now, you could only tell if a design has been selected for an external marketplace if it was also bought there. Here the sales statistics help. If the sales channel “External marketplaces” is displayed, you can be sure that your design was sold on Amazon or eBay.
Thanks for all of your helpful answers! Always try to keep external marketplaces in mind when creating your designs. Remember, you can find out more under your sales statistics.
Do you want to know even more about our external marketplace team?
At the moment, the team consists of seven people, including marketplace managers for Germany, France, the UK and the USA. Each individual is responsible for their respective country, e.g. for design selection, advertising or the Brand Store. The Brand Store is Spreadshirt’s sales page on Amazon. Through it, Spreadshirt’s products can be offered in their own store interface on Amazon and pushed by means of various marketing campaigns. Additionally, the team regularly works on new projects. For example, it now also offers customizable clothing on Amazon.
