Why We Celebrate Easter

Why We Celebrate Easter

Easter is coming up on April 12th. Everyone is looking forward to enjoying chocolate eggs and catching up with loved ones, even if this year it will be via video calls. But why do we actually celebrate Easter?

Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Therefore it is one of the most important celebrations in the Christian Church and gives people hope that there is eternal life.

In addition to Easter Sunday, there are also Good Friday and Maundy Thursday. Good Friday is the day on which Jesus was crucified and died. Maundy or Holy Thursday is the day on which we commemorate Jesus’ last supper with his 12 apostles before his crucifixion the next day.

Why Is Easter on a Different Date Each Year?

But perhaps you are still wondering why Easter falls on a different date every year.
This is determined anew every year on a lunisolar calendar. The important thing here is the first full moon of Spring. According to the tradition, Easter always falls on the Sunday after this full moon. The moon stands for the fullness of God’s love.

Now that we have answered these questions, there is only one left: What are you giving your loved ones this Easter?
Besides delicious chocolate eggs, a personalized apron or a mug would be a great idea for them. Get inspired by these design ideas.
