I’m new to this. I use designs that I do have a right to use and sell. But they keep getting rejected. One was a graphic of a dog paw with the phrase Dog Papa underneath, and this was rejected because they could not confirm the copyright. If I have to pay money to purchase a copyright for my art I create with a license to use and sell, then I will never make any money trying to sell my apparel. Does Spreadshirt not allow the use of a paid platform to help me create my own designs?
Hello @What_Matters_Most,
For all questions about rejection reasons of designs it is best to write an e-mail directly to the department that is overseeing the process. Under legal@spreadshirt.net you can give my colleagues the respective design ID and they can check it for you and provide you with more detailed reasons. It is not always a clear-cut picture, but in general is not needed to buy or request a license for designs that you create yourself.
For the specific cases, never hesitate to e-mail us directly.
I hope it can be resolved quickly!
I can answer this for you, even if you pay for the licence and have the legal right to use it your designs will be rejected. Spreadshirt have confirmed to me that they will no longer allow designs that include publicly available clip art, fonts or vector graphics whether they are free or licence paid. I have just had 12 designs that include art from canva pro removed, because they found an artist on redbubble using the same clip art images! here is the response from the legal team at spreadshirt.
Spreadshirt wants to ensure that all graphics on the Marketplace are original and offer a variety of unique designs. This means the Marketplace is being cleared of designs found online with no association to you. Even if your design should be marked as “public domain content” with a third-party provider, we need to reject it. This is because the usage rights and trademarks of third party providers are often unclear or not easily understood. We are also eager to avoid multiple publications.
Of course these designs are still available in your own shop! You can read more about our marketplace guidelines in our FAQ here.
