I am trying to design new products with a new design. I get it done, only to mysteriously have the item either get deleted, change colors, item name and descriptions deleted, etc. I am guessing this has something to do with the migration of the new user area. But for now it sure is F***ing up the legacy users to be able to design or edit products. I’m quitting until another time.
Well you’re being migrated to the new upgraded partner area in the next four weeks so I’d suggest you try again then
Or you’d need to tell me a little more about which product you are trying to create with which design so we can reproduce it
Thanks for your help and patience!
Also a long time user here - I can no longer edit products already in stores, or make new ones AT ALL! WTF were you thinking Spreadshirt? I have designs on random color items that don’t even look appealing that I know I DID NOT SET UP THAT WAY! My shops look like crap and once I get in the user area there is NO WAY OUT!!! Who designed this mess!? AND I can’t get into my user account area on mobile any more I have to click through a bunch of random links and show the desk top site to get there.
Also just realized the default shop setting set to 8 Products per design is what screwed up my shop! I set it back to “1” per design which is not what I set up originally because it went by product not design (I may have had 2-3 items for each design; but it doesn’t look as horrible. My wordpress plugin kept timing out because having it set to 8 created over 600 products of which about 400 I never built and they looked hideous!
Also just found setting it to “1” per design only works for one page with the plugin! The next page it makes 8 ITEMS FOR ONE DESIGN ALL OVER AGAIN! Breaks everything and looks hideous! I DON’T WANT TO SHOW 100’s of items for one design! “1” SHOULD BE THE DEFAULT SETTING! LET USERS CHANGE THIS TO “8” OR WHATEVER THEY WANT ON THEIR OWN!
I cannot reproduce what you are experiencing… is this still happening. We have plenty of nice tutorials on different features of the partner area… maybe this helps in the first weeks of getting to know the partner area: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrg-yR8QoADTfR_EaDwDfbg/videos
I am bewildered too. None of my links work on my site. I don’t know how to create or delete products. Very frustrating. Why does spreadshirt roll out major changes ALWAYS in the fall? My shop is in shambles.
I know right? Let’s do it right before the holidays so it screws up everyone’s 4th Quarter sales! Yeah! Great Idea!
So I have learned through the not so friendly user interface, that it wants to auto create products much like Zazzle based on design rather than product, and there is no way around this. I had to set my store to only show one product per design to get around this so far using the Spreadplugin and had another issue but Thimo is looking into it. Spreadshirt’s plugin caused a fatal error on my WordPress site and wouldn’t work at all. It is the most backwards system for partners, seems focused for the Marketplace; big surprise.
I guess they are not really supporting the business/shop owner model as in the past. It’s hard to not have control over how it looks. I haven’t played around with it much. I’m going to build a new shop with just my main items and see if I can make it work. I had everything coded for the categories in the previous update, those links don’t work at all now.
How are we supposed to delete a product that does not work with the design?
You create new products for an already existing design by clicking on Edit (behind product selection)
and clicking again on “Edit product selection”
and then activating the products you wish to add on the top left of every product
and clicking on Done (at the bottom of the page)
You delete products that are part of a certain design by clickn again on Edit product selection
and then clicking on the cross on the top left and then on “Apply”
You can save your product selection, color restriction and design position for each design via a Template and apply to your other designs:

Just made it easier for mass producers to overly mass produce garbage flooding the marketplace in my opinion. But Spreadshirt should NOT be automatically creating product in existing shops that I DID NOT MANUALLY CREATE which is what is giving me the biggest headache right now.
This only happened if you also published the design on the Marketplace!
Why would they do that? That doesn’t even make sense… so my shop that I tried to keep less than 200 items in will now have over 1,000 items because of any design I also added to a product and added to the marketplace? How is anyone supposed to keep their shops organized? Especially for those that have really worked hard to customize, organize and make the most of Spreadshirt. It sounds like all these changes broke a lot things for a lot of long time partners who have their own custom websites and shops.
We put money into those! Buying domains, hosting, etc. we are the ones putting more effort, links, and web exposure for Spreadshirt…
You got that exactly right. The old designer and what all it could do is gone, the ability to add editable text such as names is gone, glitz printing is gone, now all printing is done digitally, and if the prices in the old designer that I remember are any indication, that now makes all products more expensive as digital printing was the most expensive option then. Websites that you wanted particular categories (now called Topics) and those only displayed, were broken and apparently by default showed all products. Yep, the old or long time partners were the most hurt in my opinion, with this new much less intuitive platform.
Totally agree. Maybe they just want us gone. Lol I love how they don’t reply when a valid point is made or legitimate question is asked. I’m afraid to make more changes when things just aren’t working right now.
