I’m playing with some shirt designs in adobe illustrator and was wondering the ideal font sizes so its quite bold on the shirt and can be seen from a decent distance away? I know thats vague but i mean like minimum to maximum kind of thing.

unfortunatly there is no answer on that question.
If you want a bold text on a shirt, try to use few and short words and scale it to the whole print area.
The smaller the text, the closer you have to approach the shirt.
Sometimes very small text is not really intended to be read but is just a designelement on the whole design.
