Text only shows black!

Hello all!

I’m quite new here. I managed already to upload some designs.

Recently I’m discovering problems when I want to upload Text. It only shows in black
I’m using Inkscape and converting everything to a path.

Can someone plz help me? Thats really frustrating.

Thx

Ahoy @MaFri7,

which fileformat do you upload? you could send me the file and I will have a look.
I will send you a private message where you can answer and attach your file.
We’ll find a solution.

Rico already helped me a lot. It seems like it is a Inkscape specific problem. Is there someone who can help me on that?
It seems like that Inkscape isn’t creating correct paths.

Ahoy @MaFri7,

the function in inkscape is called “stroke to path”. It will transform every path with a contour into a shape.

Have a nice weekend!

Fuck this shit… really… Also stroke to path doesn’t work…

If I’m creating a minimal working example only with a one word as a text and keep it as font “sans-serif” and create a path out of it and group it it works.

But if I use a different font it doesn’t…

Is there a possibility that it has something to do how I group everything?

Thanks in advance

When I have more then one word and every word has different colors

Ahoy @MaFri7,

I dont know your workflow and I also dont have much experiences with Inkscape so I can just guess:
Maybe you should select all, ungroup all and then use stroke to path and to be sure also use text to path?

I cant Imagine that it has something to do with the type of font.
Maybe you need to experiment a little?

Best Rico

First of all I really appreciate your efforts here. Thanks for that!

I know it sounds like that I haven’t invested any time into it and only want a fast solution. But this isn’t the case. I’m somehow expirienced with Inkscape (technical part) but it really frustrates me because it doesn’t work… I tried almost everything (Group, Ungroup, text to path, stroke to path, layers and so on)
I don’t know how such a simple case can cuz me so much problems/times…

Ahoy @MaFri7,

the last clue I have is to look if the object you want to convert maybe is locked somehow.
Another possibility is that your text is an imported pixelimage which cant be converted into a path this way.
Dont get me wrong - this is just a shot in the dark as I cant help you better without knowing what happens on your screen.

Best way would be to ask a friend or someone who also has some experiences with inkscape.

Ahoy @MaFri7,

I recieved the file you send me and everything looks good. Every font is converted into a path and I also tested to upload it - it worked.
You can upload this file to your account as well. It just will be converted into a pixelfile for Digital Direct print because your file has more than 3 colors and maybe also the linewidth is to small.
But the design can be printed as you created it.

So what issue do you have with this file? I dont get it?

Best Rico

The uploaded colors do not match the ones in the file.

OK - this is another issue. I thought you had problems with getting black text.

As this svg-file cant be printed with Flex anyway and will be converted into a pixelfile right at the upload you could export your design directly from inkscape and save it as a png-file instead of a svg-file. That way the colors will stay almost the same as you created them.

Ah ok I understand.

Why cant it be printed with Flex? Whats Flex exaclty?

Ahoy @MaFri7,

here you will find the main printing technics that we use for our products.
For the flexprint we require 3 colored vectorfiles. The print will be result in 3 layered image based on colored foils as you can see in the vid.

Your design was created with more than 3 colors what is the reason that it gets converted into a pixelfile directly at the upload. With this pixelfile we print in Digital Direct which is similar to a print of an office printer as the colors will be mixed by the 4 basci colors Cyan Magenta Yellow and Key(Black).

The advantage of a Flexdesign is, that the customer still can change the colors as he desires whereas a pixelfile isnt editabla in terms of colors anymore.

If you want to create vectorfiles suitable for Flexprint your designs have to met our requirements. You will find them here:

The disadvantage of flex print is that there are design limitations in terms of colors and detailsize.

If you want to have all the creative freedom in terms of colors and shapes, digital direct printing is the right choice for you.

However, for DD-Printing you should upload your designs as a PNG files.

I hope this helps to understand.
Have a nice weekend.
Best Rico
