I can’t figure out which is better. Designing for the market place or having your own shop.
If you have your own shop can your items still be found in the market place?
If I was in the market place but wanted to be able to send a friend 1 link of all the designs I’ve made, is that possible?

you dont need to choose between those two. You can have both. There are pros and cons for both point of sales I will try to sum it up:
Marketplace: you dont need to generate traffic to your site. We do all the marketing, SEO and SEM to bring visitors to our marketplace and you profit from our work. All you need to do is to create, upload and publish your designs. On the other hand the commission is fixed for every article. Your articles will have the same prices like all the others. For marketplace we also have higher checking-standards - some designs are accepted for shop but not for marketplace. And of course the visitors from our marketplace will see tons of designs from other partners as well.
Shop: You have the full controll over your prices and therefore you could earn more per product if you have enough visits that convert into sales. There are also no other designs from other partners - so no competition like on our marketplace. On the other hand: Noone will do all the work to bring the customers to your site but you. Do not underestimate the work to bring enough potential customers to your site.
For both point of sales it is possible to send a link with only your designs to a friend. On our marketplace every designer has a showroom (kind of portfolio of your designs) and for the shop you just need to share your shop-link.
However you decide in the end - whether for marketplace, shop or both is up to you. It also depends on the content yu want to offer. If you want to sell merch with your logos or you want to create more personal stuff than the shop is your solution as for marketplace those kind of designs will get rejected.
If you want to offer special designs for niches o mainstream topics, seasonal topics, cool and funn stuff - then marketplace would be a good choice.
