Valina Eckley, AKA The Geeky Graphic Girl, is a self-taught digital illustrator and web designer. Originally from small town Wyoming, she found herself in San Francisco after a 7 year extended vacation in Japan. Originally trained in traditional print layout and visual communication, she picked up vector illustration while in Japan. While her original characters are heavily influenced by the Japanese cute kawaii culture, but they maintain a distinctive uniqueness of their own. Her work is often said to bridge east and west, as it is mix of Japanese and American art. Outside of art, Valina found the joy of throwing her friends in the air as she has started the sport of cheerleading at the age of 30. Furthermore she is involved with several cheer charities, including Cheer for Life, Cheer for a Cause and Cheer for Peace. The sport gives her the energy and enthusiasm to continue her art. She is also interested in Irish music, lolita fashion, bunnies, Science Fiction and video games.
