Summer Staycation Guide: City Edition

Summer Staycation Guide: City Edition

Are you ready to (virtually) jet set? The first stop on our summer staycation series is a European city made for lovers and lost souls alike. Discover our guide to a virtual 24-hour stay in Paris.

If you’re an urban dweller who prefers good food, world-renowned art museums and sightseeing—this itinerary is for you. While a major city is possibly the last place you’ll want to be this summer, you can still explore the concrete jungle from the comfort of your couch!

The Itinerary

Celebrate the start of your French-themed staycation with croissants and café for breakfast. Hint: for an authentic experience, you’ll want to leave bread crumbs all over the floor and countertop.

Before you head out for the day, brush up on your French skills…

Bonjour—Hello

Salut—Hello, goodbye

Au revoir—Goodbye

Je voudrais— I would like…

Un verre du vin— A glass of wine

Merci—Thank you

S’il vous plaît—Please

Can’t remember all of that? No problem. We’ve created a tank top with helpful French phrases, so you’ll be prepared even if you forget your pocket dictionary.

As you set out to discover the city, you’ll want to find a nice solitary park bench, pack some bread, bring a book (or a friend for conversation) and feed the birds. Pigeons will make you feel like you’re immersed in the chaos of Paris instantly.

Avoid the crowds (and selfie sticks), visit the Louvre virtually. Whether you’re an art history buff or have always wanted to see the Mona Lisa (La Joconde in French), the Louvre is an iconic museum with something fascinating for everyone.

Once you’ve seen all the Louvre has to offer, you’ll probably be ready for a snack. That’s right, it’s apero time! Fulfill your Martha Stewart fantasies and make a gorgeous cheese board, complete with cornichons. Don’t forget the wine!

Next up is a quintessential French experience, watching a spectacle. The Fondation Louis Vuitton often hosts virtual concerts, events and exhibition tours. Make a nice big bowl of popcorn and prepare to have your mind blown.
