Spring Trends 2015: What’s in, what’s out, what’s timeless?

Spring Trends 2015Warmer weather! We can’t wait for bold beams of sunshine creeping through blossoming trees packed with mating birds that sing to lovers holding hands on park benches, all in tune with a newly budding environment. Similar to people’s natural habitat of city parks and country roads, the sprouting shoots of fashion bring about new trends every year as well. We need to know what we can still wear that’s nestling in our wardrobes, and which areas we need to supplement with new threads to blend in with the scenery or stand out from the crowd. That’s why we sounded out our trend expert Kristina who’s got her fingers firmly on the pulse of time.

You’re in touch with garment suppliers, attend lots of fairs and have an eye out for new trends in the world of fashion. What are the top three global trends you can delineate?

There are quite a few fashion trends this year that are worthy of a mention. The top trends include sheer fabrics, bohemian looks, lace details, gingham plaid and the return of the 90’s polo shirt.

We keep hearing this: how can we act on up-coming trends more swiftly? Currently, for example, we can see that super thinly twined T-shirts – which are nearly opaque – are the ant’s pants, aka on a total high. Why does Spreadshirt not supply this demand?

Good question! The problem with opaque or sheer T-shirts is that they can be very difficult to place a print. The ink can easily bleed through the fabric, and heavier printing materials like our flex/flock foils can easily weigh down the fabric. There is, however, a Women’s Deep V-Neck Marble T-shirt that we offer. It’s a blend of cotton/polyester and rayon which is lightweight and slightly sheer, yet still durable enough to accept a print. It is our best option for those consumers wanting a very lightweight slightly opaque T-shirt.

What are the trending colors of 2015? And do we like it lighter, darker, more colorful or longer?

The color of the year is marsala! Think of a pale red wine shade with hints of purple. This color is best accented with neutral tans and grays. Other popular colors this season are those inspired by nature, think soft and cool such as light light blues and greens as well as pops of warm toned lavenders, tangerine and soft pinks.

What do you make of more sustainable production in the textile industry?

Sustainable production is now more of a common practice and many consumers are starting to expect it from the brands they wear and purchase from. It is encouraging to see manufacturers striving to achieve this in their supply chain and no longer focus on cutting costs as opposed to protecting the earth.

Your favourite spring product in 2015?

As my favorite products tend to be Spreadshirt products, my favorite for spring is our Women’s Tri-Blend Long Sleeve T-Shirt. (Ihttps://www.spreadshirt.com/womens-tri-blend-long-sleeve-t-shirt-C6856G2P33T883) It has a flattering neckline, is available in the trend nature colors of the season and is perfect for the spring temperatures with its slightly sheer lightweight fabric.

As we don’t only print on clothing but also on accessories, could you shed light on the ”accessorization“ as a whole, and what we can expect this year?

Our hot ticket accessory items are definitely those in drinkware, headwear and bags. These are the 3 segments that tend to be the accessories that most people use or wear on a daily basis. Look for more colors to be added to our mug products, more fashionable headwear products including trucker caps and fashionable winter beanies.

It looks like the weather won’t be the only thing heating up this summer! Have you noticed some color or fashion trends where you live? We’d love to hear about them! Please leave your comments below.
