Ombre: All the Rage

If you haven’t noticed by now, the ombre style is taking over. About two years ago, an ombre dye in women’s hair styling made a MAJOR impact on the fashion industry. Wait… you don’t know what ‘ombre’ is? Here is the official definition thanks to yourdictionary.com:

ombré [äm′brā′, äm brā′]

adjective
shaded or graduated in tone: said of a color

Origin of ombré
French past participle of ombrer, to shade ; from Classical Latin umbrare ; from umbra, shade

So, in normal people terms, it’s when a color transitions from a dark color to a light color or vice versa. You’ve probably seen it more than you think you have. Next time you walk down the street and you see a girl whose hair is dark brown from her head to down around her ears and then it gradually transitions to blonde down by the ends, that’s ombre. Got it, hombre? 🙂

Here is an awesome video that I found today on how to make a DO-IT-YOURSELF ombre shirt. Again, you can either do it so it goes dark up by the shoulders to light at the bottom, or the other way around– whatever suits your taste.
